Honestly, it's a preference thing — they do the same job. 🤷🏾‍♂️ They both help hydrate, moisturise and style facial hair, with the same organic oil ingredient base. Some brothers prefer the oil, others the balm, and most use them both.

You might prefer the oil in summer and the balm in winter, thanks to the balm's shea butter and mango butter. Bigger beards also tend to enjoy the balm, while brothers with fine hair or shorter trims might like the oil more.

As long as you moisturise and style, you're good, and you can do that with both.

Shea butter | Shea strengthens your beard from its roots, stimulating growth and preventing hair loss. Its moisture sealing properties keep your beard softer for longer, giving dry hair long lasting relief.

Mango butter | A lesser known butter, mango is an excellent source of triglycerides (aka a type of glycerin), intense fatty acids that work as emollients. TL;DR: Softer skin under your beard, with less dryness and itchiness, and inflammation.

Jojoba butter | Much like Jojoba oil, the butter's anti-inflammatory properties can help treat a variety of skin infections, wounds and may even help delay the signs of ageing. It also acts as a protective barrier, keeping moisture where you need it to treat dryness and dandruff. Also, it's actually 'ho-ho-ba.' No, we don't know why.

Sweet almond oil | great for curly and coily beards that tend to dry out faster than straighter textures. It's lightweight which means it won’t weigh fine hair down or get greasy. The protein and vitamin content of sweet almond oil is very high, and this makes the oil particularly great at increasing the shine and luster of beards that are dull and dry.

Grape seed oil | extracted from cold-pressed grape seeds, it's got antioxidants that may help to block the production of DHT, a hormone that causes hair loss. Grape seed oil can also be used as a carrier for essential oils that promote relaxation of the hair follicles, preventing hair loss caused by cortisol, the main stress hormone.

Kalahari melon seed oil | A Southern Africa legend, used to moisturise, protect from the sun and promote hair growth. It's got more Vitamin E than any other cosmetic oil, nourishing and hydrating beyond the skin's surface. It also acts as a natural preservative that stabilises the the rest of our oil blend, so it works and keeps working on your beard and your skin.

Beard oil: Spread oil drops across palms, preferably right after a shower, and work it into your beard and the skin underneath.
Short Beards & Stubble: Use 2 – 3 drops
Medium to Long Beards: Use 3 – 6 drops, or more if desired

Beard Balm: Apply a pea-to-grape sized amount to your towel-dried beard after cleansing.
Gently rub your palms together to melt the product and massage thoroughly into beard and skin underneath.

Bro tips: Start with less; add more if necessary. Use with beard brush and comb daily for the best results.
